Day 1 - Arrive at Leh Airport (IXL)

Our representative will greet you and accompany you to your hotel in Leh. Take the day to unwind and adjust to the high altitude of Leh. Spend the night at Ladhak Sarai/Saboo in Leh.

Day 2 - Explore Leh

Awaken to the enchanting scenery of Leh and savor a delightful breakfast. Subsequently, prepare for a day of exploration in Leh. Begin your journey by visiting Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a tribute to Guru Nanak, situated approximately 40 km from Leh on the Leh-Kargil road. Marvel at the surreal experience of the Magnetic Hill, where gravity seems to defy its conventional rules. Proceed to the Sangam point, where the Indus River merges with the Zanskar River, creating a breathtaking spectacle.

On your return to Leh, make a stop at the Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace, an ancient royal residence offering sweeping views of Leh town and the surrounding mountains. Explore the Hall of Fame and, as the evening unfolds, take a leisurely stroll through the vibrant Leh Market, immersing yourself in the local culture. Retire for the night at the resort in Leh, cherishing the day’s unforgettable experiences.

Day 3 - Leh to Nubra via Khardungla Pass

Following our exploration of Leh and acclimatization to the high altitude, today’s itinerary involves a journey northward from Leh to the enchanting Nubra Valley. Renowned for its picturesque scenery, sand dunes, and monasteries, Nubra Valley is our destination. The road trip from Leh to Nubra Valley typically spans approximately 4 hours, traversing the renowned Khardung La Pass, recognized as one of the highest motorable passes globally. Upon arrival, our accommodation will be at The Lchang Nang Retreat. After a satisfying lunch, we plan to visit the nearby Col Chewang Rinchen, the Mahavir Chakra Sena Medal Museum, and the Sumur Monastery. The evening will be dedicated to leisure, allowing us to relish the mesmerizing Nubra Valley, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes and unique cultural experiences.

Day 4 - Explore Nubra Valley

Today’s itinerary involves a one-hour drive to reach Ensa Monastery, situated atop a hill with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Along the way, we’ll make a stop at the lesser-known Yarab Tso Lake, surrounded by lush green meadows, providing a serene environment. Our journey continues with a visit to the Panamik Hot Spring, renowned for its therapeutic properties. If you’re inclined, bring a towel to indulge in a dip in this high-elevation hot spring.

Afterward, we’ll return to our retreat for lunch and then proceed to the Hunder Sand Dunes, known for its high-altitude desert landscape. Here, you can partake in camel rides on double-humped Bactrian camels to explore the sand dunes and the picturesque surroundings. The ever-changing colors of the sand, the play of shadows on the dunes, and the backdrop of the mountains create a captivating scene, making Hunder Sand Dunes a photographer’s paradise.

On our way back, we’ll make a stop at Diskit Village to visit the Diskit Monastery, the largest and oldest in the Nubra Valley. The clear skies and unpolluted atmosphere provide an excellent opportunity for night sky stargazing.

Day 5 - Explore Thang

Today, we embark on a day trip to the secluded Turtuk village, a destination less explored by tourists. The village is enveloped by verdant fields and apricot orchards, creating a picturesque setting. Positioned near the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan, Turtuk stands as one of the northernmost accessible villages for tourists in India. Our itinerary in Turtuk includes a visit to Yabgo Khar, the regal residence of the Yabgo dynasty, as well as the intriguing ruins of Pun Khar. Additionally, the Chamba Temple, renowned for its ancient architecture and cultural significance, awaits our exploration.

Amidst these excursions, we’ll savor a delectable lunch featuring various dishes from the traditional Balti cuisine. As the day unfolds, we’ll journey back to Nubra in the evening, relishing the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding mountains and landscapes along the way.

Day 6 - Nubra to Pangong Tso

Pangong Lake, nestled in the awe-inspiring Himalayas, is a stunning high-altitude lake spanning one-third in India and the remainder in China. Renowned for its dynamic hues and breathtaking landscapes, the lake captivates all who behold it.

As you journey towards Pangong Tso, you’ll traverse quaint villages like Durbuk and Tangtse, each offering picturesque vistas and glimpses into the local Ladakhi way of life. Upon arrival at Pangong Tso, settle into The Watermark Resort, strategically positioned near the lake.

After a delicious lunch, partake in water activities such as kayaking and boating on the lake, or engage in bird watching, as the area serves as a habitat for migratory birds like seagulls, Brahmini ducks, and Bar Headed geese during the summer. Explore the famed “3 Idiots Point,” where iconic scenes were filmed. As evening falls, take a leisurely stroll along the Pangong Lake shores, embracing the tranquility or engage in meditation amidst the serene surroundings.

Day 7 - Pangong to Hanle

Hanle village in Ladakh, situated at 4300 meters, is near the Umling La Pass, the highest motorable pass at 5,883 meters. This attracts adventure enthusiasts seeking high-altitude challenges. The rugged terrain and extreme altitude amplify the feat. After reaching Hanle, our journey continues to Umling La Pass, concluding with an evening return.

Apart from the high-altitude adventure, we’ll visit the Hanle Observatory, one of the world’s highest observatories at around 4,500 meters. Primarily a research facility, it offers limited access to specific areas for visitors. Stargazing events or public outreach programs may also be available.

Day 8 - Hanle to Karzok

Following breakfast, our next destination is Karzok, situated at the highest elevation among permanent settlements in India. Nestled on the shores of Tso Moriri, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the region, the village is surrounded by picturesque rolling hills and framed by a stunning panorama of snow-capped mountains. Inhabited by a small community of people of Tibetan descent, the village sustains itself through traditional occupations. Notably, the region is known for producing Pashmina wool, sourced from the local sheep, renowned as the most exquisite and luxurious variety.

Upon our arrival, we will settle down for lunch before embarking on an exploration of the nearby nomadic settlements on the Changthang Plateau. This will provide us with a unique opportunity to witness the lifestyle of the Changpa nomads. Engage with the local residents to immerse yourself in Ladakhi culture, and make sure to visit the Karzok Monastery, an ancient Buddhist sanctuary in the village known for its captivating architecture, murals, and religious artifacts.

As the day unfolds, take a leisurely walk along the shores of Tso Moriri Lake, savoring the tranquility of the surroundings. Our accommodation for the night will be at a property, providing an authentic experience of life in this remote region.

Day 9 - Karzok to Leh

Today’s journey retraces our path to Leh, offering stunning views of the Changthang Plateau, rugged mountains, and the meandering Indus River. We’ll drive from Mahe to Chumathang, known for its hot springs and a popular rest stop. Continuing along the Leh-Manali Highway from Upshi, we’ll reach Leh.

After a fulfilling lunch, we’ll head to Stok village, about 15 kilometers southeast of Leh. Explore the Stok Palace, also known as the Stok Palace Museum, and the Stok Monastery, surrounded by captivating landscapes with barren mountains and the flowing Indus River. Return to Leh in the evening for a leisurely stroll through the market, offering local handicrafts, Tibetan artifacts, and souvenirs.

Day 10 - Depature

With beautiful memories, proceed to the airport for your next departing flight.
