Day 1 - Arrive Dibrugarh (DIB)

Upon your arrival, our representative will greet you and accompany you to Hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 2 - Dibrugarh to Along

Today marks the commencement of our journey as we embark on a drive from Dibrugarh to Along. Our initial route will lead us across the impressive Bogibeel Bridge, boasting a length of 4.9 kilometers and standing as India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge spanning the Brahmaputra River. Travelling through the rural landscapes adorned with quaint settlements and fertile farmlands, we aim to reach Pasighat. Pasighat holds significance as the point where the trans-border Siang River converges with the plains of Assam, transforming into the mighty Brahmaputra. Venturing into the hills of Arunachal Pradesh, our route will follow the upstream course of the Siang River, offering breathtaking views of the plains below. We will continue our journey through mountainous terrain, eventually arriving at the enchanting town of Along.

Perched at an elevation of 620 meters in the West Siang District, Along is a charming and picturesque town nestled at the confluence of two rivers, Sipu and Yamgo. The majority of the population here comprises the Galo and Adi tribes.

Day 3 - Along to Menchuka

The journey from Along to Menchuka unveils a diverse tapestry of landscapes, guiding us from the lowlands to the lofty mountains, culminating in the enchanting Menchuka Valley nestled at an elevation of 1,240 meters. Positioned near the Indo-China border, this pristine locale is embraced by verdant pine forests and surrounded by the majestic allure of snow-capped peaks. Menchuka, a haven of unspoiled natural beauty, boasts the Siyom river gracefully meandering through the valley. It stands as the ancestral domain of the Memba people in Arunachal Pradesh.

Day 4 - Explore Menchuka

Today we will explore Menchuka valley by first taking a drive to the Yarlung Camp around 35 kms from Menchuka situated at an elevation 3200 meters located on the Indo-Tibet border. It is the last post in India where visitors are allowed with a permit which we will help you acquire. The drive to Yarlung Camp will take you through narrow gorges with numerous waterfalls passing through beautiful alpine forests which consist of many Rhododendron species.

While returning we will visit the Guru Nanak Taposthan and Gurudwara established by Sikh soldiers in 1980. It is looked after by the Indian Army and offers visitor’s free meals during lunchtime. It is said that Guru Nanak Ji stopped and meditated here during his journey to Tibet.

Another place worth visiting is the Samten Yongcha Monastery, a 400 years old monastery situated at the top of a hill from where visitors can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the entire town and the surrounding valley. The monastery has unique carvings, old statues and scriptures belonging to the ancient Tibetan Buddhist religion.

We will head back to the hotel for lunch and later in the evening visit the charming Dorjeeling Village with scattered cottages and picturesque landscape with the Siyom River flowing through the village.

Return back to the Hotel to experience a camping setup with bonfire and music to end the day.

Day 5 - Explore Menchuka

Today after breakfast we will engage ourselves in some physical activity by trekking to a nearby hill top from where you will see almost 360 degree view of the snow clad peaks which surround Menchuka Valley. The view of the valley and the town below with the snow clad mountains is worth the climb which should take about an hour and a half of uphill walk. After enjoying the scenery and taking pictures the way down is much easier. Once we get back down, what better way to relax your tired feet by dipping it into the refreshing cool waters of the Siyom River where we will serve you a picnic lunch by the banks of the river.

Post lunch, you could take part in different adventure sports that Menchuka has to offer which includes River Rafting, Kayaking, Rappelling, Mountain Biking and ATV Rides. After a full day’s activity, you will have time in the evening to explore Menchuka town at leisure.

Day 6 - Menchuka to Pasighat

Today we will drive back to Along and further down to Pasighat. You will come across numerous suspension bridges built over the Siang river made of cane and bamboo which is used by the villagers to cross the river to get to their villages. On arrival we will check into the Abor Country River Camp situated in the midst of a forest beside the Siang River. The next morning you could try your hand on Angling and River Rafting which are the activities they offer at the camp.

Day 7 - Pashighat to Roing

We will drive to the Mishmi Hills of Arunachal Pradesh to Roing which is the Headquarter for the Lower Dibang Valley District. We will follow the road via Dambuk passing through remote villages nestled along the foothills crossing numerous rivers finally crossing the Dibang valley flood plains to reach Roing. It is a place of the Idu Mishimi tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.

Mishmi Hills is a southward extension of the Great Himalayan Mountain Range – its northern and eastern reaches touching China. It is the richest bio-geographical province of the Himalayan zone and one of the Mega bio-diversity hotspots of the world. We will stay at the Jungle camp in a quiet and comfortable Resort set in the midst of an orange plantation overlooking the Dibang river flood plains.

Day 8 - Roing to Anini

The drive from Roing to Anini earlier used to take two days but now due to the newly built road the journey to this remote location is much more easier and comfortable. We will drive up to Mayudia pass first situated at an elevation of 2,655 meters. This is the highest point on the road from Roing to Anini and is 56 kms uphill from Roing town. This area has a unique micro climate because of which it harbors many rare plants only found here. Just recently two different Cobra Lily species (Arisaema) new to science was discovered along with an autumn flowering Polygonatum species. The area supports around 680 bird species and is perhaps one of the least explored birding areas in all of Asia hence a very popular destination for birdwatchers now. As you are driving, you might also see or hear the howling of India’s only Ape Species the Hoolock Gibbon which is found in this area.

We will follow the Dibang river valley going further north into the remote areas before reaching the frontier settlement of Anini.

Day 9 - Explore Anini

Anini in Arunachal Pradesh is a well-kept secret and is in the bucket list of places to visit for many people. The charm of the place is its remoteness. There is no typical sightseeing itinerary established here as yet. It’s a destination to enjoy and appreciate the excellent natural beauty of the rolling hills, pristine rivers and the high mountains that surround it.

The next two days we will explore Anini and its surrounding areas. We will venture beyond Anini to explore the two different valleys through which the two rivers Mathun and Dri flows through the edge of town to become the Dibang river. Both Dri Valley and Mathun Valley are good options for going on a day excursion to reach remote valleys and villages such as the Mipi village to the North West and to the areas close to the Tibetan border beyond Dambeun to the North East of Anini.

Day 10 - Anini to Roing

Drive back to Roing following the same route we took making stops along the way for places that we may have missed while driving up to Anini.

Day 11 - Roing to Miao

Todays drive will take us through the back roads of Arunachal Pradesh. We will pass through many remote tribal settlements and dense tropical forest areas crossing rivers to get to Miao via the Alubari Ghat and Namsai.

Enroute we will stop at Bhismaknagar fort ruins which was built by King Bhismak in the 8th century BC. His name can be found written in the Hindu mythological epic, Mahabharata as the father of Rukmini. From the 12th to 16th century, the site was under the control of the Chutiya Kingdom who was the rulers of the place in that era.

As we now enter Namsai, we will stop at the beautiful Golden Pagoda known as Kongmu Kham, in the Tai-Khamti language which is a Burmese-style Buddhist temple. We will have lunch here at the in house restaurant and head to Miao.

Day 12 - Explore Miao

Nestled in the lap of Patkai Mountain range near the India-Myanmar border, Miao is a scenic little town with virgin forests, long spread valleys and scattered tribal villages situated at bank of River Noa-Dehing. It is the headquarter of Miao sub-division in the Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh.

Namdapha National Park and Tiger Reserve covering an area of 1985.23 sq km is located just a few kilometers away from Miao. With its diverse flora and fauna and pristine virgin forests, it is the only park in the World to have the four Feline species of big cats namely the Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard and Clouded Leopard along with a number of other Lesser cats. Hoolock Gibbons, highly endangered and only ‘ape’ species found in India dwells in this forest.

Today after breakfast we will embark on a morning game drive into the Namdapha National Park with our vehicles following the Vijoynagar road to experience the wilderness of the famous ‘Namdapha Forest Reserve’. We will have lunch at the Forest Rest House and return back to the Camp. In the evening visit the nearby Tibetan Refugee Settlement Camp which is pretty famous for its classy woolen carpets which are woven together by the weavers there. You will be able to see the process of carding, spinning and dying of the wools they use there. Forest museum under the care of Namdapha Park authorities is also another place of interest. It gives you quite a lot of information about the natural sources and potential of Arunachal Pradesh forests along with images reflecting the history of the forest and its animals, birds, and medicinal plants as well. You can enjoy the rest of the evening exploring Miao town and its villages or spend some relaxing time in the banks of the river Noa-Dehing. Return to Miao for a relaxing evening to a camping setup with bonfire, barbeque and music.

Day 13 - Explore Miao

After Breakfast drive around 70km to Nampong village which is in close proximity to the Myanmar border. We will drive along the famous historic ‘Stilwell Road’ which passes through this small town from Ledo in Assam. En route we can also visit the World War II cemetery of about 1,000 graves of Allied Soldiers located 6 km away from Jairampur. It has its roots emerging from the presence of the Stillwell Road and when it came to eradicating the Japanese occupation in Myanmar during the world war.

If permitted we can visit the Pangsu Pass or “Hell gate” or “Hell Pass” due to the difficult terrains in the Indo-Burma Patkai mountain Range. Crossing these places toward Burma was considered to be dangerous and hazardous as Hell during the World War II. The famous lake called The Lake of no return in Myanmar side can be viewed from Pangsau pass.

Return to Miao for a relaxing evening to a camping setup with bonfire, barbeque and music.

Day 14 - Miao to Tinsukhia

Today we will drive to Tinsukhia which is an industrial town and a commercial hub for the upper Assam region. On our way we will drive past many tea plantations. We can visit one of the tea factories to understand tea processing.

We will pass through the small town of Digboi known as the Oil City of Assam. It is here that crude oil was discovered in late 19th century and first oil well was dug in 1866. Digboi in the remote north eastern corner of the country is the birth place of the Oil Industry in India. We will visit the Digboi Oil Centenary Museum which portrays the history of the Assam oil industry. Here one can see the old and preserved machinery and it is one of the must visit places. We will check into our hotel in Tinsukhia and if time permits, we will drive to the nearby Maguri Bill wetland area. It is a major stopover for winter migratory birds, spread over an area of 9.6sq.km. It was declared an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area (IBA) in 1996. The lake supports approximately 110 species of birds. We will enjoy an evening boat ride and bird watching observing the rural lifestyle of the people who live there.

Day 15 - Tinsukhia to Dibrugarh Airport

Transfer to Dibrugarh Airport for your onward flight.
